About

Troop 86, of Ellsworth, Maine,

is sponsored by the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth, and is in the Katahdin Area Council. Open to boys aged 11 to 17, the Troop has weekly meetings where the members learn Scout skills, work on advancements and merit badges, and plan upcoming camping trips and other activities.

Being outdoors is a big part of the Scouting experience. Troop 86 goes camping, hiking or some other outdoor activity generally one weekend a month. In addition, the Troop spends a week in July at Katahdin Scout Reservation summer camp.

Boy Scouting is a program that builds character; teaches many skills and responsibilities, especially outdoor skills and citizenship; and develops personal fitness. In Troop 86, this program is carried out in a fun, safe manner.
